Draft agenda of the Trade Policy Committee meeting of 25 November 2016

Deputy Members will meet in Brussels on Friday 25 November 2016 to discuss the following items:

WTO issues:

  • WTO Accessions: TPC will discuss the state of play in the WTO accession processes of Belarus, Comoros, Sudan, Timor Leste, Somalia, Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • Environmental Goods Agreement (EGA): preparation of the next round of negotiations: TPC will discuss the preparations for the 18th round of the negotiations to be held between 26 November and 2 December in Geneva, followed by the EGA Ministerial meeting to be held on 3-4 December in Geneva.
  • Outcome of the 67th meeting of the WTO SPS Committee on 27-28 October 2016: the Commission will update TPC on the outcome of the last WTO SPS Committee meeting held in Geneva.

Bilateral/Regional issues:

  • EU-Russia: TPC will discuss trade irritants with Russia and Russia’s import substitution policy.
  • ACP Joint Ministerial Trade Committee: TPC will discuss the preparations for the ACP Joint Ministerial Committee to be held on 9 December in Brussels.
  • TTIP- update on Sustainability Impact Assessment: the Commission will provide an update on progress on the draft final report of the TTIP Sustainability Impact Assessment.
  • Debrief of the 14th Trade Coordinators meeting of the EU-Chile Association Committee: the Commission will inform TPC on the outcome of the 14th EU-Chile Trade Coordinators meeting, which took place in Santiago on 9 November, and on three preceding trade-related committees held.

Any Other Business:

  • Legislative developments: TPC will be informed of the latest developments on the conflict minerals file, further to the planned political trilogue to take place in Strasbourg on 22 November.
