Draft agenda of the Trade Policy Committee meeting of 9 December 2016

Deputy Members will meet in Brussels on Friday 9 December 2016 to discuss the following items:

WTO issues:

  • WTO- Trade Policy Review Mechanism. Sixth Appraisal. State of play: Commission will debrief TPC on the main conclusions reched by Members during the sixth appraisal of the TPRM in view of the adoption of the report by the TPRB.
  • WTO- Trade Policy Review of the United States of America (19 and 21 December): TPC will discuss the upcoming Trade Policy Review of the United States on the basis of indications from the Commission on the line that it intends to take.
  • Environmental Goods Agreement (EGA): debriefing on the 18th round of negotiations (26 November- 2 December, Geneva) and EGA Ministerial Meeting (3-4 December, Geneva): Commission will inform TPC on the latest developments on the EGA negotiations following the latest meetings held in Geneva.

Bilateral/Regional issues:

  • TTIP- state of play: Commission will debrief Member States on the state of play of the TTIP negotiations in the context of the ongoing transition in the US Administration.
  • FTA Implementation: Commission will discuss specific proposals on how the Commission and Member States can work together better to ensure effective implementation of EU FTAs.
  • EU-Taiwan Annual Consultations (trade track) on 25 November in Brussels: Commission will debrief TPC on the outcome of the discussions during the EU-Taiwan Annual Consultations.
  • EU-Pakistan Sub-Group on Trade (22 November 2016, Islamabad): Commission will debrief the Committee on the outcome of the discussions held in the EU-Pakistan Sub-Group on Trade.

Any Other Business:

  • Legislative developments: TPC will be informed of the latest developments on the legislative procedure concerning the Stabilisation mechanisms for bananas under the Agreements with Latin American Countries.
